Biography

Darius is a critically acclaimed West End actor and platinum-selling singer-songwriter, born in Glasgow Scotland in 1980.

2010 saw Darius triumph in ITV1′s show, Popstar to Operastar; he competed and won against 7 other best-selling recording artists from the world of pop as they were trained to perform world-famous opera arias.  He also appeared in his debut Opera Carmen with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, in the biggest Operatic production ever in the UK, at The O2 arena.

In the last few months Darius has performed all over the country with his ‘History of the Big Bands’ Tour, and made a guest appearance at the Beatles 50th Anniversary Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, along with Shirley Bassey, Tony Christie, and Beverley Knight.

He filmed a guest-starring role in the hit BBC show Hotel Babylon, as Italian newspaper editor, Genarro Fazio, which aired in 2009.

In 2008 he starred in Trevor Nunn’s West End production of Gone With The Wind, in the leading role originally played by Clark Gable, and although the show was criticised for being too long, he won rave reviews for his performance.

2007 saw Darius take over a leading role played by fellow Scot Ewan McGregor, starring as Sky Masterson in the Olivier Award-winning Guys and Dolls.

In 2006 he starred in a second successful West End-run in the hit musical Chicago. At 25 he was the youngest actor ever to play Billy Flynn.

Darius trained classically with the Scottish Opera as a teenager, appearing in The Trojans and their critically acclaimed Carmen at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London.

He gave up a promising Operatic career to study English Literature at Edinburgh University. After two successful TV shows and turning down Simon Cowell’s offer of a million pound record deal, he signed with Grammy Award-winning U2 producer Steve Lillywhite, exceeding Pop Idol expectations when his self-penned single Colourblind entered the UK chart at Number 1 and his debut album went Platinum.

He has had five UK Top Ten singles; a second Gold album; wrote a no. 6 Sunday Times Best Seller book Sink or Swim; he supported Shakira on her world tour and is an Ambassador for the Princes Trust.
